BLOGGING AND FORUMS

I began and still own one of the largest singles dating sites on the web, "Over 45, Not Over the Hill" (http://over45.lolbb.com)

Other blogs that I maintain regularly include:

http://allnaturalhorse.blogspot.com

http://growing-up-southern.blogspot.com

http://green-keys.blogspot.com

http://pasture-prime.blogspot.com

Y'all drop in at any address and say hello! I'm usually at one or the other.

I also have written and designed complete newsletters for two non-profit organizations and produced copy for real estate advertisements.

I currently own and manage a public horseback riding stable, where we also try to "do our part" by rescuing, rehabbing and rehoming horses that are in bad situations. I am constantly learning new things about owning, raising, training and most recently exhibiting our horses. We keep them all as natural as possible, using natural herbs and diet to keep them healthy and happy and following an all-natural hoof care regimen as well.

Between my other projects, (in my "spare time" so to speak), I continue to work on my novel, set in the War Between the States era. So far, it's taken me longer to write the darned thing than it took them to actually fight the war in the first place. My characters keep doing unexpected things that keep me on my toes, causing me to have to do lots of unexpected research. (A sample chapter is included in my writing samples here)

I enjoy doing research on any topic: whether it's something I'm familiar with already, or something totally new. I love learning new things! My motto is: "The more I know, the more I know I don't know".

I am a thorough fact-checker, and because of my background as a line and copy editor (for a major book publishing house, as well as a newspaper) I try to turn in work that will need as little editing as possible (why is it that we simply cannot always catch our own mistakes, when we find it so simple to find those of others?) I work well with deadlines, and promise a fast turnaround on time-sensitive projects.
I can also offer quality photographs with any project along with my copy.

Taking a break from work

If I'm not writing,
I'm usually reading.

The written word has always been of utmost importance to me. I started reading when I was 3, and haven't slowed down since. Mysteries, history, arts and science, paranormal, health and self-help, and the occasional 'trashy dime-store novel' as my grandmother used to call them. :)
